Dealing With Employees Who Have Multiple Jobs!

A lot of times you employ workers who either have a job they were doing and want extra income, or employees who feel you don't pay them enough and rather than leave, they go on to get another job. In Nigeria it is a little difficult if you are fully employed to have a second job but if you own businesses like restaurants, salons, catering outfits, entertainment, event planning, supermarkets etc, you are sure to come across workers with multiple jobs. Below are some things to look out for and make sure to manage when dealing with these types of employees.

1. Disclosure. Before employment be sure to find out if your new hire has another job.
2. Tardiness. If an individual juggles two things at the same time, so be sure to make sure they are able to manage their time and let them know coming late to work is a no no.
3. Conflict of Interest. Be sure about the nature of the second job, all job functions must be clear and disclosed to you, make sure the other job is not your competitor. You don't want them taking information to their other job from yours.
4. Attention to detail. Make sure the employee is productive and not making unnecessary mistakes, usually juggling two jobs can be stressful and you don't want anyone who is unproductive around your business.
5. Is your company policy for or against it?
6. Which job takes precedence, yours of the other job?
7. Are they calling in sick just to go to the other job?

God's Hand In My Finances!

Friends,Family,Tithe, Faith….All part of my story
Something so awesome happened to me today, how cool it is to end your week in such an awesome way.
For about 2 months I have been trying to keep up financially, even though I was spending money, I knew things were not right as I was always on top of my game when it came to my finances. In all these I never for once stopped tithing. Last week I had practically used my last amount to pay my tithe knowing that I had a huge bill to pay in a couple of days.
I had actually struggled for a couple of hours before logging on to the church website to make my payments, while waiting I kept convincing myself it was because my atm card was somewhere in my purse and I was too busy to get it. Eventually I paid it ofcourse. That single action will make you understand why I need to tell my story.
4 days before my bill was due, I started setting cash aside, so I got some cash from my husband to add to what I had which was nothing close to what I had to come up with by the end of the week, for some reason I was so calm. I am not one to wait till last minute to get things done, yet for some weird reason I had peace like a river.
The day before the due date I was still unsure what I was doing.
I had 3 plans all slated for the last day if things did not work out…. 1. Call up my sister to help pay some cash in my account, 2. Call my friend to send some money to my account (we all have that one friend who is always there for us and you are always there for them financially, if she is ever broke then I am in trouble and if I am ever broke she is in trouble, we both explored all options before calling ourselves for help) 3. Call another friend who might have some money to send to me.
I woke up on my bill pay day, the first thing I did was to call my sister (see because of the time difference I had to let her know because, as my day is starting she is already half way through her day), for 4 straight hours my loving sister did not pick up her phone (like seriously), this is someone who I talk to almost everyday. Looking at the time, I switched to my second plan, as I was about to call my friend she sent a bbm asking if I had some cash till the end of the week (haaaaaa alakoba), I had to get myself together because the plan had already failed before it started sef. I told my friend what I was about to do and she was so surprised. She immediately swung into action, started telling me how she might have another plan for me blah blah (forgetting her own needs), to cut an already long story short she sent me some of her last money and told me to hold it in case her second plan fails. I was so happy the money had increased but still not complete.
On to my third plan, I buzz my second friend (forget phone activity o lol), I first asked her to holla at my sister. After a while she told me my sister’s phone was switched off (which kind woman be this babe, just when I needed her she disappeared on me,I did not even think of asking my sister’s husband where she was I guess God just made me forget about that). I told my friend how much I needed and she was like she was low on cash but was expecting some money that same day (I looked at my time and realized I might actually end up with nothing), she however told me to hang in there and expect her alert once her money comes in (Korede Bello’s I don get alert song came to me, hmm ok o God better win this one).
So you think all my plans failed abi?
Well an hour ;ater, my sister finally called me and she explained why her phone was off, I told her my plight and she asked me how much I needed, guess what I said….’please hold on just get your details ready and wait for me to give you a go ahead to pay the money’, am I a serious person atall?
Another 30 minutes (true story o I was looking at my watch), my second friend sends me a message ‘lucky you, I got the alert and I have sent you some money, remember I am owing you xxxx amount so consider that part payment’. Yekpa……immediately I read her message tears came to my eyes and I started talking to myself, I thought’ it was a miracle, no a coincidence’…..then as though something was trying to convince me it was not a big deal I shouted, ‘never, this is God’. I immediately went on my knees and started to thank God and asked for his forgiveness on how weak my faith was.
I forgot to tell you I had started fasting a day before, but broke the fast too early.
God was still faithful to me despite my short comings and despite the fact that I did not fulfill my own part of the bargain (FASTING),I was still able to pay up my bill and I have extra. To make things a lot more interesting, I don’t have to return the money because it’s mine, all mine!
What if I had not paid my tithe?
What if my friend had not gotten any payments, or was not ready to pay me?
What if my sister’s phone was on and she had paid in money which would have to be returned at the end of the day?
What if, just what if…….?
God is a faithful God no matter how much we fail him, he always proves himself to us, there is nothing like coincidence, atleast I do not believe in random events. I see God’s hands in my life, he has blessed me with good people and I will not trade my friends for yours sorry….
Please share my story so people can believe in the power of tithing, that 10% is not yours, never plan with it. Thanks to my mother who taught me the power of tithing. When you get paid 1,000,000, plan with 900,000 because the 100,000 is not yours, if you spend it you have actually taken money from your spiritual well of prosperity.Teach your children to tithe, hearing from church might not do the magic. When they see the Lord's hands in their parents finances they will do the same.
Please share my story because I am so excited.
Sorry the write up was too long but I had to rant………For 3 hours I played this song below repeatedly on my phone.
I will definitely have a great weekend so you guys should too.
I got alert and God won this one as he always will in every aspect of my life ‪#‎Godwin‬

Body Shaming!

So this lady who saw me last about 4 years ago, looks at me and calls out my name. She held me hands and looked at her husband 'I did not even recognize her, she has added so much weight'. I kept smiling respectfully only for her to pull me back again and she was like 'you have to lose that weight o'.
Well I like to be slimmer too but just an hour before that my husband was still telling me how I looked kind of funny when I lost like 25 pounds about a year ago, he told me he had a picture and that he thought I looked strange, my legs looked bigger than my body lol. He told me to keep fit and continue to do my daily exercise and that we would probably have to go for a tummy tuck because he does not want my buttocks to disappear.

It's so funny how people seem to care so much about your weight but they actually have no idea what you want for yourself.
